"Just a Spike"..."Just a Jake"..."At Least it will eat good"
How many times have you seen it?
How many times have you done it?
These phrases, and others, are used to preemptively deflect what the hunter fears may be heading his way, in the form of belittling or negative commentary from other hunters. The phrase is tied to these negative ideas that the animal you have taken may not live up to the ideals of what others consider a "trophy".
This week Jeremiah & Tony discuss this problem, and why we feel so strongly that it needs to end, how supporting and encouraging other hunters needs to be higher on our list of "must dos" and why we, as hunters, should learn to revel in the successes of others, not only to be good friends and fellow hunters, but ultimately to protect the lifestyle we love.
